Active weather forecast until February 13

Brunei Darussalam is still in the northeast monsoon season, where active weather conditions usually occur in the afternoon and at night until early morning, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) said in a release yesterday.

Active weather conditions are forecast until February 13 due to the active development of rain clouds over the country. Occasional showers and thundershowers are expected, with wind gusts up to 45 kilomtres per hour during or near heavy showers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight and may reach moderate state up to 1.2 metres.

The public is advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather conditions.

High risk of flash floods, especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain that may last for over one hour as well as during high tide.

The risk of landslide and falling trees are also expected during showers and gusty conditions.

The public, road users and fishermen are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by the BDMD, and to take action to ensure safety.
