Brunei weather conditions are forecast to be active from today until tomorrow. Occasional heavy and thundery showers are expected, affecting many coastal and sea areas in the morning and at night; as well as inland areas in the afternoon. Wind speeds of up to 45 kilometres per hour are expected in or near showers.
Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight to moderate, between 0.5 to 1.5 metres.
The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) said the Sultanate is currently in the northeast monsoon season, which typically persists until around the end of March 2025.
During the first half of the northeast monsoon, the country usually experiences unstable weather conditions, with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers, particularly during the night until early morning. Whereas, during the second half of the northeast monsoon (February 2025 and March 2025), the atmospheric condition tends to become more stable with reduced rainfall activity.
Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions in view of the forecasted active weather conditions. There is a high risk of flash floods, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas as well as near river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslides, fallen trees, and flying roofs are also possible during heavy showers and gusty conditions. Rough sea conditions are dangerous for all small boat operations, sea recreational activities, and sports.
