Active COVID cases top 21K

The total number of active cases in Brunei Darussalam reached 21,504 after 3,285 new COVID-19 cases were detected yesterday.

No COVID-related deaths were reported yesterday, while the accumulative number of confirmed cases has reached 44,334, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

The new cases were detected following 2,343 antigen rapid test (ART) screenings and 942 RT-PCR tests from 5,258 in the last 24 hours.

The Sultanate has 10 cases in Category 4, in need of oxygen assistance, while one case is in Category 5, requiring artificial ventilation assistance at the intensive care unit.

A total of 1,163 cases recovered, making the tally at 22,718 recoveries. Meanwhile, the bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 16.9 per cent.

As of February 22, 94.9 per cent of the total population had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 94.2 per cent two doses, and 52.9 per cent the third dose.

Meanwhile, one violator was caught during the movement restriction operation from midnight to 4am yesterday. The offender, Mustopa, was detected in the Brunei-Muara District, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force.
