Academic project aims to preserve heritage

The ‘Borneo, an Island of History’ project is regarded as an academic project and the first of its kind fronted by the Brunei History Centre (PSB) through the Borneo Research Centre (penBorneo).

The project showcases the continuous efforts carried out by the PSB to highlight the Sultanate’s history in Borneo through activities such as the Brunei History Lecture Series 12, the launch of Citra Borneo Exhibition Gallery, the launch of new book, Dari Jendela Borneo : Himpunan Kertas Kerja (Siri I), Pusat Pengkajian Borneo (penBorneo).

PSB Principal Dr Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong said this in his welcoming remarks at the project launch yesterday.

“The lecture serves as an academic programme that contributes to knowledge sharing of the history of Borneo,” said the PSB principal.

He added, “We hope that through the lecture, the community will understand the importance of history research into Borneo, to preserve the heritage of Borneo for current and future generations.” – Rokiah Mahmud
