Aaron said the entertainment industry now faces significant challenges as it competes with the increasing quality of content offered by over-the-top (OTT) platforms like Netflix and social media.
“This shift has had a huge impact on acting standards and storytelling, with audiences now exposed to high-quality productions, especially from South Korea.
“When viewers are accustomed to such high standards, they expect our dramas to have similar quality. Besides that, I also need to find roles more suitable for my age,” he said.
Aaron plays the lead role of Din Tiger in a drama of the same name directed by Datuk Afdlin Shauki. The series, which revolves around criminal scam cases, premiered on Unifi TV channel Degup HD on Jan 6.
Aaron said his Din Tiger character is different from the roles he has played in the past.
“I don’t want to act in roles that rely solely on fight scenes, but Din Tiger is not a fighter. The character is a bit different, and I took it as a challenge because he has to win by using his brain. Although there are some action scenes, I have to ensure they do not dominate the story,” he said.
The series also stars Afdlin, Mia Sara Shauki, Datin Seri Nina Juren, Josiah Hogan, Ako Mustapha, Tony Eusoff, Adam Corrie Lee and others.
