A time for family and friends

The borders saw long queues during the long weekend with both locals and Malaysians working in Brunei heading to the neighbouring states of Sabah and Sarawak to shop and reunite with family.

However, some opted to spend the break at home, with recreational parks and beaches among the popular spots.

HTH Campers was a group that held the grand finale of their outdoor camping activity at Muara Beach, with family and friends.

HTH Campers was set up in 2019 among family members who shared an interest in camping and a love of nature. It has grown steadily to include not just family members but also friends, said team leader Haji Md Zul Iskandar bin Haji Ahmad.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, activities were brought to a halt. So the group was relieved it could be active again this year, with members wanting monthly activities at different places and a grand finale to round up the year.

“The regular activities aim to foster good relations among families and friends while recognising those who have made outstanding achievements,” said Haji Md Zul Iskandar.

“But most importantly, camping is about enjoying quality time with family and friends.”

He added, “We believe it is best to conduct the grand finale in the Sultanate to promote our lovely beaches and camping sites while sharing the thrill of outdoor camping with the younger generation and the public. We want to encourage not just locals but also foreigners to visit our beaches and try camping.” – Lyna Mohamad
