A step forward in neurocritical care

Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) through the Brunei Neuroscience Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre (BNSRC) celebrated its first participant of a one-year fellowship programme in neurocritical care yesterday.

PJSC Executive Director Dr Haji Mazrul Adimin bin Haji Awang Besar said Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) under BNSRC is a department that focuses on patients with life-threatening illness and is necessary for a team of neurocritical care professionals to be available hence it has embarked on a Brunei’s first post-doctoral fellowship training in the neurocritical care accredited by the Indian Society of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care (ISNACC).

Recipient of the post-doctoral fellowship Dr Nurulhuda binti Abdul Manap shared her fellowship programme experience and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to gain advance training and knowledge.

BNSRC Director Pengiran Dr Siti Nur’Ashikin binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Tengah, BNSRC course director of the post-doctoral fellowship in neuracritical care and head of department/consultant intensivist of the NICU Dr Chidananda Swamy Muthugaduru Narappa, ISNACC President Dr V Bhadrinarayan and ISNACC Secretary Dr Girija Prasad Rath were also present at the event. – Lyna Mohamad
