A step forward for healthcare, health sciences training

Politeknik Brunei (PB) and JPMC College of Health Sciences Sdn Bhd (JCHS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance education and training in healthcare and health sciences yesterday.

Signing on behalf of PB was Acting Director Lim Kian Boon, accompanied by Head of School of Health Sciences Armah binti Tengah, while representing JCHS was Chief Executive Officer Chung Yea Fui, accompanied by Dean Dr Rachelle Sarmiento.

Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad witnessed the signing ceremony.

Lim said the MoU’s objectives are to establish, promote and develop collaboration that benefit both institutions and the communities that the institutions serve.

He said, “We aim to enhance our capabilities, foster innovation and contribute to the improvement of healthcare standards.”

The acting director said several areas of cooperation have been outlined, including sharing of programme curriculum that leverages on the institutions’ strengths and resources to enrich learning experience for students; articulation agreement that facilitate seamless student enrolment between institutions to expand opportunities for academic growth and specialisation; and student-staff exchanges to broaden the horizons of their academic communities and foster cultural exchange and collaboration.

Chung said, “At the heart of this partnership lies a simple yet profound goal, that is, to foster cooperation between the two institutions in healthcare and health sciences research, education and training programmes. Together we pledge our commitment to leverage our collective strengths, expertise and resources to address the multi-faceted challenges in healthcare and health sciences.” – James Kon
