A space for becoming independent

A total of 28 orphans and single mothers participated inthe 22nd edition of the Jiwaku Ikhlas Charity Project organised by Kris Karmila Kreations in cooperation with the Kampong Mentiri Zone II Village Consultative Council (MPK) and the Development and Security Committee of MPK RPN Mentiri Zone II on Tuesday.

Legislative Council member and Kampong Subok Village Head Yang Berhormat Lawi bin Haji Lamat was the guest of honour.

The participants were trained from April 10-16 in several courses and skills.

Among the courses were the leather embroidery training course conducted by Sorayya Rigi from Iran sponsored by the Embassy, Kueh Jala making class by Hajah Siti Rahimah binti Abdullah from MPK RPN Mentiri Zone II and a Kenali Masakan Melayu class guided by Datin Hajah Faridah Hanim binti Haji Mohd Yussof from Saffron.

The courses provided useful knowledge to orphans and single mothers, as well as those in need with space and opportunities to learn and become independent.

The projects five programmes continue throughout the month of Ramadhan and during Syawal.

To date, the project has helped about 3,200 beneficiaries in the last three years.

In 2022, the project also helped orphans and the underprivileged abroad, including in Indonesia and Malaysia.
