    A shot at greatness

The hole-in-one shot can elude most golfers for their entire lifetime. Still, the Baiduri Masters has seen five different success stories.

According to the National Hole-in-One Registry, the worldwide official website to record the achievement, the odds of the average golfer scoring an ace is 12,500 to one. The odds of being struck by lightning in your lifetime – 15,300 to one. Elyas Abdullah was the first golfer to pot a hole-in-one at the Baiduri Masters, earning a BMW 730Li for the landmark moment in 2008.

Lightning struck thrice in 2015, with Ahmad Izzat bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Zaimi and Ahanapiah bin Haji Md Noor splitting a Porsche Panamera, while Kahar bin Haji Abu Bakar’s ace earned him BND20,000.

The last player to record a hole-in-one at the Baiduri Masters was Dato Paduka Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar in 2017, pocketing the ball straight into hole 12 and BND20,000.

There are four shots for golfers at this year’s edition to record the once-in-a-lifetime milestone and walk away wealthier for wear. A BMW iX3 and MINI Cooper 3-Door Brick Lane Edition are the grand prizes for holes 16 and nine, and BND20,000 at holes seven and 13.

Registration for The Baiduri Masters is open. Players can confirm their participation in this year’s tournament by submitting their forms and making payment in full at the registration counter of the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club.
