    A digital future for banking and finance: DigiCon 2023

    The Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Group is hosting a conference on the future of banking and finance in the digital age on November 8, the group announced in a statement yesterday.

    The Olive Digital Innovation Conference (DigiCon 2023) will “provide delegates with valuable insights into emerging trends and technologies that are shaping the financial landscape, according to the statement”.

    DigiCon 2023 will carry the themes of ‘Industrial Revolution 4.0’, which puts focus on the profound impact it has on competitiveness, and ‘Fostering Collaboration’, which invites participants to meet and collaborate with key players in the financial industry and technology vendors.

    BIBD’s Deputy Managing Director II Irwan bin Haji Lamit, who is also Head of Retail Banking and Chief Information Officer, expressed that DigiCon 2023 is an integral part of BIBD’s 30th anniversary celebration. He said the event symbolises BIBD Group’s dedication to digital innovation and its path towards becoming a Bank 4.0.

    The event programme features a keynote speech ‘Driving the Future of Banking: Vision for Digital BIBD’ by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, who is also Chairman of the BIBD Group, and a keynote presentation ‘The Great Transition’ by The Asian Banker founder Emmanuel Daniel.

    DigiCon 2023 will also offer opportunities for discussions with local and international experts and industry players in finance, technology and innovation.

    Panels on digital transformation, cybersecurity and the future of financial services will be held with the likes of Director of Fraud and Security at FICO Asia Pacific Chee Kong Leo to Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies (B) Sdn Bhd Tong Wei Shiang.

    Local industry experts will also offer unique perspectives on Brunei’s financial landscape, said the group.

    The conference is open to the public, with registration available via BIBD’s Olive app.
