START-UP Weekend Brunei Creative Tech will take
place on August 1-3 at Sepakat Room 3 and 4 of the
International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
According to a press release, the event will be the
seventh edition of Start-up Weekend Brunei and aims
to explore the spectrum of the creative industry.
“The 54-hour hackathon is a dedicated environment
for participants to create an impact in the creative
industry through innovative designs and turning
creative ideas into a business through the creation of
sustainable solutions while being guided by mentors
and experts from the region,” stated the press release.
The event is being organised in conjunction with
the National Youth Day and is also supported by the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
The team organising Startup Weekend Brunei
comprises entrepreneurs from two different start-ups
- EICO Enterprise and InTurn - which are based at the
iCentre, Anggerek Desa Technology Park.
Working alongside the organising team are DARe
(Darussalam Enterprise) as ecosystem partner,
Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd as strategic partner, Bank
Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) as sponsor and Ikigai
Lounge and iAesthetix Factory as the prize sponsors.
The mentors for this edition are: A’aqiil Ahmad
from Filterworks Productions; Aizuddin Fakhri from
Naindah.comand
KadaiRuncit.com;Angie Ang from
Eversheds HEP; Ian Ong from Megabytes Solution;
Izzuddin Hussin from Pixelated; Lisa Ahmad from
Kaleidoscope; and Liyana binti Hanif from Progresif.
This edition will be facilitated by Founder of EICO
and Lead Organiser of Start-up Weekend Brunei Afiq
bin Mohamed.
The press release added that registration is open
to the public of various backgrounds and age range.
Registration is on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and is
open until July 31 at 9pm.

People of Brunei Darussalam Association
(PAPDA) organised its annual
Sukan Ria
event at the Muara Beach yesterday.
Association members and families
enjoyed a day of fun-filled activities and
games included balloon popping and biscuit
eating contest.
According to a member of PAPDA Haji
Abdul Jalil bin Rashid, the event’s objective
was to bring the members and their families
together.
“For the activities, we organised games
for those with limited mobility,” he said.
PAPDA has 260 members.

THE Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS)
which hosted its 8
th
Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the
Jury Roomof Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas
yesterday has membership of almost a thousand members
comprising school cadets, youth and volunteers.
The AGM began with the recitation of
Surah Al-Fatihah
and
Doa Selamat
followed by a speech from President of
BDRCS Haji Mohd Suhaimi bin Haji Ibrahim in his capacity
as the Chairman of the BDRCS National Council.
The meeting was attended by representatives of four
branches of BDRCS - Brunei-Muara, Tutong, Belait and
Temburong districts.
This year, the BDRCS celebrated its 71
st
anniversary.
The association is a statutory body in the country
that concentrates on providing first aid services through
training and certification programmes in addition to
auxiliary services.
