The theme of the seventh Southeast Asian Minister of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Centres Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit 2024 underscores the pivotal role of inclusivity as the common thread uniting education, science and culture, SEAMEO Vocational and Technical Education and Training (Voctech) Regional Centre Director Haji Norjemee bin Jenek said. The summit at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah from April 23 until tomorrow is hosted by the SEAMEO Voctech Regional Centre.
It gathered policymakers, researchers, educators and stakeholders from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Bhutan, Japan, Hong Kong and Finland, to discuss topics in policy research revolving around the theme, ‘Embracing Inclusivity in Education, Science and Culture’.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, as the Vice President of SEAMEO Council, inaugurated the summit.
Haji Norjemee said 32 papers will be presented during the summit, of which 19 comprising SEAMEO Voctech centres will look into education, science and culture from various perspectives and explore trends and recommendations in embracing inclusivity in these areas.
SEAMEO Secretariat Director Datuk Dr Habibah binti Abdul Rahim also delivered a speech followed by a speech from the minister.
Ambassadors and high commissioners of SEAMEO member countries and associate member countries of Brunei Darussalam, permanent and deputy permanent secretaries, directors and deputy directors of SEAMEO Voctech and representatives from ministries, institutions and partner organisations were also present. – Rokiah Mahmud
