Some 127 students received certificates as part of the 24th scholarship for outstanding children of members of the Hokkien Association Brunei Darussalam at its premises on Sunday, said the association’s education and culture head Chin Lee Jin.
The association’s advisor Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin and chairman Steven Peng presented the certificates.
The association also gave out annual awards recognising academic excellence, to reward and encourage members’ children to strive for education.
Meanwhile, the association’s chairman Peng Yan Hoe said that the award has received an overwhelming response from its members every year, with more than 100 children meeting the eligibility criteria.
The association said they were pleased with the outstanding performance of its members’ children and hoped they will continue to strive for success and give back to the country as well as the community in the future. – Lyna Mohamad
