Some 95 participants joined a two-day workshop on ‘Bengkel Penghayatan dan Penerapan Ibadah Solat’ organised by the Fiqh Al-Usrah Research Centre of the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) which ended with a closing ceremony yesterday.
The participants comprised officers and staff from various ministries, higher learning institutions and the public.
Acting Deputy Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Abang Hadzmin bin Haji Abang Taha, as the guest of honour, presented certificates to the workshop facilitators during a ceremony at Tarbiyah Hall.
Fiqh al-Usrah Research Centre Director Dr Haji Sham bin Haji Amin said the workshop, themed ‘Sembahyang Tiang Agama’ or ‘Prayer, the Pillar of Religion’ aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge to integrate religious practices into their daily lives.
The workshop emphasised adherence to the objectives of Islamic law, especially within the family institution, where the practice of prayer will lead to societal well-being and harmony in living together as a community and nation.
Meanwhile, participants Mohammad Sabry bin Haji Md Yusof and Norahtina Seriyati binti Haji Omar from the Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the workshop.
They said the workshop provided explanations on why performing prayers are mandatory obligations, including the recitation of niat.
They added that the workshop also called on participants to prioritise praying in all aspects of life as it brings countless benefits, rewards and blessings.
The workshop aimed to motivate participants to appreciate and take responsibility in performing prayers, its implications on health and its importance in family life. – Rokiah Mahmud
