85 per cent of children vaccinated

The COVID-19 vaccination rate for children aged five to 11 continues to rise, with 85 per cent having received the first dose while 71.9 have been double-dosed.

Meanwhile, the coverage rate for the country’s citizens and residents having received three doses remains at 72.4 per cent.

The latest statistics on the vaccination rate was released on the Ministry of Health’s official online and social media platforms yesterday.

Brunei Darussalam yesterday recorded 753 new COVID-19 cases with 744 cases from ART tests and nine from 321 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours. The total number of active cases has increased to 4,412.

Meanwhile, no COVID-19 fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours.

The ministry also stated that one case under Category 5 requires treatment at the intensive care unit while one case in Category 4 requires respiratory assistance and is being monitored closely.

A total of 469 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 153,887, it said.
