Some 84 youth will be competing in a three-day preliminary round of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Youth for 1443 Hijrah.

The competition will be held today, tomorrow and on May 14 at the Youth Centre’s Silaturahim Hall from 8.30am to 5pm. Of the participants, 53 are qari and 31 are qariah.

The contest is an annual project by the Youth and Sports Department (JBS) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) since the 1980s.

The tournament has produced high calibre qari and qariah that compete at higher levels of competition. The contest is aimed at showcasing the competitors’ potential particularly in Tarannum.

The tournament will be livestreamed by JBS.
