7 businesses fined for violating Price Control Act

The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) of the Ministry of Finance and Economy fined seven businesses for violating Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act and the regulations under the Act between February and mid-March.

Four business premises were fined BND500 each, one was fined BND1,000 and another BND700 for selling products above the ceiling price stipulated under price control goods under which were cooking oil and infant formula.

Meanwhile, one business was fined BND500 for failing to put a price tag on some items and displaying a price tag inconsistent with the payment register.

JPES also issued 15 warning notices for the same offences under the Price Control Act from February to mid-March.

Business owners are reminded to be responsible in carrying out business activities ethically by adhering to Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act and regulations under the Act to develop an ecosystem of a sustainable domestic market.
