664 receive state honorary medals

Prince Mateen and Princess ‘Azemah leads list of recipients 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Wednesday consented to award State Honorary Medals of Brunei Darussalam in honour of His Majesty’s 77th birthday celebration.

A total of 664 recipients received their medals at the investiture ceremony held at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman.

On hand to confer the medals as personal representative of His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’Matul Bolkiah.

Out of the 664 recipients, 32 received the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (P.J.K.) comprising 21 male and 11 female recipients.

Leading the list of recipients of this medal were His Majesty’s son and daughter, His Royal Highness Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’Matul Bolkiah.

One of the recipients was from the office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, 3 recipients were from the Internal Security Department, 6 from the Anti-Corruption Bureau, 15 from the Ministry of Defence and 7 recipients were supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

For the Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (P.I.K.B.) a total of 556 recipients received this medal, out of which 427 are male recipients and 129 are female recipients.

From the office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, a total of 5 recipients received the P.I.K.B., 115 from the Prime Minister’s Office, 360 from the Ministry of Defence, 51 from the Ministry of Finance and Economy, 16 from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 9 from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

Also conferred were Pingat Pahlawan Periwara (P.P.) and Pingat Asgar Pahlawan (A.P.) with recipients all male, where a total of 44 recipients received the P.P. and 32 received the A.P. Medals. All the P.P. recipients were from the Ministry of Defence.

The ceremony concluded with A Doa Selamat read by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
