65.8 per cent of population boosted

A total of 65.8 per cent of the population covering citizens and residents of the Sultanate have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, 69 doses of the vaccine were administered to children aged five to 11, bringing the total number of first doses administered to 22,822 or 53.2 per cent, while four second doses were administered to children aged five to 11, totalling 2,388 doses or 5.6 per cent for the age group.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said this during the daily press conference yesterday.

Meanwhile, 162 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the Sultanate yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 142,627.

Of the new cases, 156 were results of antigen rapid test (ART) while six were from 511 RT PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

The minister said there are currently no cases in Category 5 requiring treatment in the intensive care unit.

However, one case in Category 4 requires oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham added that 75 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 141,673.

The number of active cases is 735 with nine cases receiving treatment at hospitals, while 726 are on self-isolation at home.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin was also present.
