Baiduri Bank announced the conclusion of its Raya Packets Recycling Drive, Bisaitah Recycle, which saw the collection and recycling of 60 kilogrammes (kg) of festive packets.

The initiative, launched in April this year, aimed to promote environmental sustainability and reduce waste during the festive season.

The Bisaitah Recycle drive was a key part of Baiduri Bank’s environmental corporate social responsibility efforts, focusing on zero waste, supporting green causes, and raising public awareness about climate issues by encouraging the community to recycle their used or old Raya and other festive packets to foster a culture of responsible waste management and environmental consciousness, said the bank.

Collection bins were placed at selected Baiduri Bank branches across Brunei-Muara, Tutong, and Belait districts.

The bank’s chief executive officer Ti Eng Hui said, “We are appreciative of the community’s support in making this recycling drive a success. “The tradition of giving and receiving Raya packets is a cherished cultural practice, but it also poses an environmental challenge due to the waste generated.

He added, “By recycling these packets, we have taken a significant step towards mitigating this issue and highlighting the potential positive impact of recycling on our planet.”
