VIENTIANE (XINHUA) – A total of 53 people were killed in road accidents across Laos in October, down by 18 in number from the same period last year.
According to a news agency report yesterday, Laos recorded a total of 458 incidents nationwide, resulting in 702 injuries and 53 fatalities, and 828 vehicles damaged in October.
The Laos capital Vientiane reported the highest number of road accidents during the cited month, followed by Champasak and Savannakhet provinces.
The primary causes of the accidents were identified as driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, sudden changes in direction, and overtaking.
In October 2022, 71 people were killed in 513 road accidents across the Southeast Asian country, with 783 people injured and 915 vehicles damaged.
