503 new COVID-19 cases recorded

Brunei recorded 503 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 134,915.

Of the new cases, 490 were from antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded to the BruHealth app, whereas 13 were from 1,176 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

There are no cases requiring intensive care or in Category 5, while eight cases are in Category 4.

Meanwhile, two COVID-19 cases passed away in the past 24 hours. Both cases are categorised as deaths not due to COVID-19.

The COVID-19 updates were shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

In light of the fatalities, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohf Isham said, “On behalf of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the people of Brunei, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the cases’ families. May their souls receive blessings and be placed among the pious.”

Meanwhile, 1,020 cases recovered yesterday, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the Sultanate to 130,250 cases with 4,455 active cases. Eighty-one cases are receiving treatment in hospitals, whereas 4,374 are undergoing home self-isolation.

As of March 31, the minister said 61.6 per cent of the total population had received three doses of the vaccine under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin was also present.
