Forty-eight Syariah law practitioners completed a basic Syariah advocacy course with a closing ceremony at the Supreme Court and Syariah Courts complex in the capital yesterday.
“It is hoped that the course has brought the practitioners to a higher level of practice that upholds the integrity of court proceedings, both in Syariah and civil jurisdictions,” Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar said.
He also reminded the practitioners of their duties in law and advocacy.
The two-day course focused on enhancing professional skills in advocacy, moderated by professionals from Syariah Court Registrars, Syar’ie Prosecutors and Syariah lawyers.
The moderators also trained the participants in practical matters over cases involving finance and crime under the Syariah courts.
Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu and officials from the PMO and the Syariah Courts as well as Syariah lawyers from private firms were also present. – Fadley Faisal
