46 COVID cases recorded

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate jumped to 46 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 16,252. Of the 46 cases, 26 are local and 20 imported.

A Ministry of Health (MoH) statement detailed that the new cases were detected through 2,358 laboratory tests carried out over the last 24 hours. The infection rate of positive case stands at two per cent.

Forty-four cases have recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 15,787. Meanwhile, 363 active cases remain. The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide stands at 8.9 per cent.

There is one case listed under Category 4, who is in need of oxygen assistance and under close observation.

As of January 26, 94.8 per cent of the populace had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 93.9 per cent had received two doses, and 38.7 per cent had received the booster shot.

No violations were detected yesterday during the midnight to 4am movement restriction measures.
