Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah was in attendance during the International School Brunei (ISB) Religious School Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at The Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong yesterday.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raqeeqah Raayatul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim was among 42 Darjah 6 students of the school feted during the ceremony.
Also accompanying Her Royal Highness were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim bin Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj and Her Royal Highness’ children Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raheemah Sanaul Bolkiah; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Hariisah Widadul Bolqiah; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak ‘Abdul Raqiib and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak ‘Abdul Haseeb.
ISB Religious School Principal Hajah Intan Khairani binti Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Haji Yahya was also present.
Her Royal Highness also presented certificates to the celebrated students.
The event began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by Ahmad Padilah bin Haji Rabaha, followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran by khatam participants.
A Takhtim recitation by Darjah 4 and 5 students enlivened the event, along with a Doa Khatam recitation by Muhammad Iqbaluddin bin Muhammad Sihamuddin, and Doa Selamat led by Ahmad Padilah.
The 10th Khatam Al-Quran ceremony then saw the spraying of scented perfume accompanied by Dikir Marhaban.
The event aimed to foster a deep appreciation for reading Al-Quran as well as encourage students to consistently practice reading Al-Quran with both accuracy and fluency.
The event seek to integrate the reading of Al-Quran into the students’ daily lives, ensuring that it becomes a regular practice to instil a strong sense of devotion and spirituality in the students.
The event also hoped to foster cooperation and unity among parents or guardians, teachers, and students. By actively involving all these stakeholders, the event encouraged collective efforts in organising various ceremonies and annual school activities. The event was also a response to the government’s aspiration to raise a literate and knowledgeable generation, equipped with a deep understanding of the teachings and principles outlined in Al-Quran. – Izah Azahari
