40 students receive helping hand

Forty underprivileged students of Sungai Siamas Primary School in Kampong Ayer yesterday received school supplies from the Leo’s Club Brunei.

The donation was part of the club’s charitable initiative, ‘Share to Care’, a fundraising campaign to support students in need.

Sunil Kumar Ramchandani presented the donations on behalf of the club, in the presence of the initiative’s leaders Sania Khan, Natasha Rahman, Munjiyyah Rashidi and Amna Askari.

Meanwhile, Sungai Siamas Primary School principal Nor Asnawati binti Haji Mohd Yassin thanked Leo’s Club Brunei for their generosity.

She said, “These donations can ease the financial burdens of families in need and we hope that this will encourage our students to work hard to achieve success while being respectful to each other.”

The Leo’s Club Brunei also set up a booth outside of the school premises to sell handmade beaded bracelets, food and beverages to raise funds for the initiative.

The fundraising began in November last year, followed by another drive in December at the club’s car park.

The funds raised during the campaigns were spent on school supplies and 130 packaged meals for students at Sungai Siamas Primary School.

The initiative also extended support to a student, who was a victim of a house fire in Kampong Ayer recently. – James Kon
