A total of 396 students of Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT) received their certificates in business, information technology (IT) and creative media during the college’s 15th convocation ceremony at Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Brunei, in Jerudong yesterday.

Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented the certificates to students.

CCCT Executive Chairman Dr Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Latip expressed his appreciation to the minister. “I am certain that the Ministry of Education under the able leadership of Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah will accelerate the progress towards further transformation of education in the country. It’s my duty to pledge our support on this initiative as this is our mission too. We stay focussed and committed to resolving the unemployment issues in Brunei and to encourage our youth to enter the world of entrepreneurship.”

A representative of the graduates, Syahwan Dani bin Yahya, thanked the lecturers at CCCT for their support.

The Best Student awardee from HND in Business said, “I am grateful for being part of the ‘be job ready workshop’ – work study programme for HND students, where we learnt practical real life industry skills. This has helped me at my current job. Being surrounded by friendly and approachable CCCT lecturers and staff gave me confidence that I can achieve my dreams.”

Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah also toured project exhibition by students including the second-place winner of the Trash to Treasure Competition in the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (Brunei MYCE 2022), organised by the Department of Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) of the Ministry of Development.

‘The Gong’ by Level 3 business students was also showcased. The project, made from recycled materials, aimed to promote environment conservation by discouraging plastics use.

The minister also took a closer look at the remote access robots by IT students, which can be used at various industrial and practical applications such as carrying goods, delivery services, transportation, and cleaning.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo.
