Students across the nation began their preschool academic journey on January 6, as schools welcomed eager young learners to their classrooms, fostering a love for learning and the formation of lasting friendships.
In the Belait District, 359 preschool students from 14 primary schools marked their first day of school.
At Kuala Belait Primary School, 48 preschoolers attended their first day, where preparations were in full swing. Headmistress Noorirmawati binti Haji Noorashid shared that the school conducted a three-day orientation late last year to brief students, parents, and guardians on the school’s activities and curriculum.
“We also set up a convenient WhatsApp group for parents and guardians, enabling direct communication and the sharing of crucial updates about the school and their children,” she said.
Preschool teacher Sarinawati binti Mili elaborated on the activities held on the first day, which included ice-breaking sessions, games, and practical learning exercises to help students adapt to their new learning environment.
Meanwhile, Siti Zaliha binti Haji Zakaria, a parent, shared her efforts in preparing her children for their first day of school. “Ensuring they get plenty of sleep and have breakfast is key,” she said. “During the school holidays, they usually woke up late, so establishing an early routine was important. Thankfully, they were excited to attend class, meet new friends, and learn.”
