321 converts attend Temburong assembly

Some 321 Muslim converts attended an assembly in Pekan Bangar’s Belalong Community Hall in the Temburong District organised by the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) on Friday to learn the prophetic secret and fundamentals of preaching methodology of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in addition to sharing the knowledge of Islam.

The gathering was held in collaboration with the Temburong District Dakwah Propagation Unit and An-Naafi’ Company.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman attended the morning session.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al Fatihah and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, led by Muhaimin bin Zulkifli of the Religious Bureau of the PESAT Association, Temburong followed by a welcoming speech from PDI Director Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, the event chairman.

The minister officiated the launch of a video on ‘Prayer Guide for the Convert’.

The ceremony also featured a lecture from Professor Dr Haji Abdul Somad followed by Selawat Badriyah.

The morning session concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the speakers and the minister.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir, the Acting Head of Zone 1 in Temburong attended the afternoon session.

The session featured a briefing on the Syariah Penal Code Order 2013 by Acting Chief Syar’ie Prosecutor at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajah Hadiyati binti Haji Abdul Hadi.

The ceremony also saw a performance of Dakwah and Selawat by Abdus Salam bin Haji Ali.

The assembly aimed to raise awareness on the importance of deepening religious knowledge while strengthening ties among the converts. – Azlan Othman
