31 players sign for Wijaya ahead of Brunei Super League

Thirty-one players committed their immediate futures to Wijaya FC ahead of the upcoming Brunei Super League for the 2023 season following a player’s contract signing ceremony at the Spices Restaurant in KampOng Sungai Tilong last night.

The new-look squad has been bolstered by the arrivals of new players including Dandarawi from Indera; Aiman from Almerez; Nizam from Perka, Salah from GG FT; Samsul from Panchor Murai, Aziz Fattah from Jerudong and Naim who was unattached.

Four under-21 players will also complement the fresh-look squad – Azahar, Danish, Hamiz and Aqil.

The club will be led by General Manager Mohd Hilmi Hazwan and Team Manager Pengiran Md Ali Redzuan as well as coaches Mahdini Haji Mohamad and Erni Abdul Hakim.

Mohd Hilmi Hazwan called for the selected players to preserve the good name of the club and hoped that they can contribute their efforts and energies.

The general manager said, “I hope that the team can give their best and contribute their efforts to the best that they can.”

He also congratulated the new players adding the club’s rules are to comply with what is required from the coaches and meet the expectations of the club and coaches.

Meanwhile, Pengiran Md Ali Redzuan said, “It’s not about the goal. It’s about how we reach our goal. Let’s enjoy the journey. As I’ve said, results will come along the way.”

The season could also mark the swansong of club stalwarts Marhazif Ahad and Jamrin Johari, who are both in the twilight of their careers.

The event also coincided with the presentation of goody bags containing pre-match attire to be worn before official matches.

Club chairman, board of directors and members of management were also present.
