Twenty-five abandoned vehicles were removed during Operasi Bersepadu Bersih 5/2023, jointly conducted by the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department and Land Transport Department recently.
The abandoned vehicles were found in car parks in Kampong Tamoi, Kampong Menglait, Kampong Kiarong and beneath the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha (RIPAHS) Bridge, according to the Law Enforcement Unit of Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department.
Seven vehicles have been relocated to a landfill site through the Abandoned Vehicles Nationwide Clean-Up Project, while the remaining 18 removed by those responsible for them.
The Municipal Department reminded the public that under Section 12(1)(f), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021, individuals will be fined between BND1,000 and BND2,000 for bodies or company for each abandoned vehicle.
Individuals, public or corporate bodies, especially vehicle repair workshops, must comply with the regulations and laws of the Sultanate including maintaining cleanliness. Meanwhile, a company was fined BND200 for violating Section 12, Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021 for improper rubbish disposal in a public pathway.
