Twenty-three players have been selected to represent the Brunei Darussalam national under-23 team for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-23 Championship, the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) announced on Monday.
The playing squad include three goalkeepers Jefri Syafiq Ishak from KB FC, Kota Ranger FC’s Riyan Aiman Jali, and DPMM FC Under-20’s Khairul Hisyam Norihwan.
The seven defenders are Indera SC trio Amirul Aizad Zaidi, Abdul Basith Murtadha Billah Hussin and Hirman Abdul Latif; Ar Rawda FC’s Khoirunnaas Khalid; MS ABDB’s Abdul Wafiy Yazid Sudirman; as well as Kasuka FC pair Nazhan Zulkifle and Wafiq Danish Hasimulabdillah.
The midfielders are Indera SC pair Syafiq Safiuddin Abdul Shariff and Azhari Danial Yusra; KB FC’s Khairan Zikry Zulkhairi; MS ABDB trio Nazry Aiman Azaman, Ali Munawwar Abdul Rahman, and Hadif Aiman Adanan; MS PPDB’s Rozandy Anak Bujang; Kota Ranger duo Imam Mahdi Suhaimi and Haziq Naqiuddin Syamra; as well as Kasuka FC’s Abdul Hafiy Herman.
The forwards line are IKLS MB5 duo Syaherrul Affendy Syahmirul Nizam and Qusyairi Haiqal Arabimulfhasal; and Kasuka FC’s Bazli Aminuddin.
The Young Wasps will leave for Vientiane on October 9 to take part in an international friendly match against Laos this Saturday in preparation for the AFF meet.
Brunei marked their maiden appearance in the competition last year in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The AFF Under-23 Championship 2023 will be held in Thailand from August 17 to 22. – Fadhil Yunus
