21 students awarded prestigious scholarship

Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd recently held a scholarship signing ceremony for 21 Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) students who have been awarded scholarship under the Joint Scholarship Programme between Hengyi Industries, IBTE, and Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT).

Present as guests of honour at the signing ceremony were Hengyi Industries Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chen Lian Cai and IBTE CEO and Director Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli.

The event began with a safety briefing, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by opening remarks from Chen. The event then proceeded with the students signing scholarship agreements with the Hengyi Industries CEO and IBTE CEO and director as witnesses before concluding with a group photo session.

The students are the fifth batch to receive scholarships under the Hengyi Industries, IBTE and LPUVT Joint Scholarship Programme.

The programme, established in 2018, is part of Hengyi’s future-ready initiative with the aim of empowering local talents with the knowledge and skills required to become future leaders of the petrochemical industry.

The programme offers a three-year diploma in refinery operator course, with one year of academic studies at IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, one year of studies with LPUVT, and one year of industrial training (on-the-job) with Hengyi Industries at Pulau Muara Besar.

Upon completion of the programme, the scholars will be expected to join Hengyi Industries and begin their career in the petrochemical industry.

As of today, a total of 142 students have been awarded the scholarship under the Hengyi Industries, IBTE and LPUVT Joint Scholarship Programme, and 47 students have begun their careers as refinery operators with Hengyi Industries.
