ISLAMABAD (XINHUA) – Three terrorists were killed in an operation by Pakistani security forces in the Tank district of the country’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said late Saturday night.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said in a statement that two soldiers, having fought gallantly, also embraced martyrdom during a fierce fire exchange.
According to the statement, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists on Saturday.
The military added that an intense fire exchange took place between security forces and terrorists during the operation.
“The killed terrorists had remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as innocent citizens,” said the ISPR.
“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area,” said the military.
Earlier in the day, the ISPR said that a terrorist was killed and three soldiers lost their lives when security forces retaliated to an attack on one of their posts in the Zarghoon area of southwest Balochistan province on Saturday.
