Some 19 participants of the Brunei Darussalam Psychological First Aid (PFA) course received certificates at a ceremony at the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC) headquarters in Jalan Haji Halus, Kampong Bunut yesterday.
BRC President Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yussof bin Pengiran Haji Bahar presented certificates to the participants comprising BRC officers, certified first aiders and representatives from BRC corporate partners and Ministry of Health (MoH) officers.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam followed by remarks from BRC Secretary-General Sheikh Kadir Abdullah.
PFA is a vital tool in delivering psychological interventions in the absence of early and effective intervention provided by trained caregivers to those who have undergone or experienced traumatic events, where a significant amount of stress can be induced such as during calamities, outbreaks of disease, and war.
BRC, through its National Academy, has been given responsibilities by the MoH in promoting mental health and providing psychological first aid and psychosocial support in a whole-of-nation approach.
