Eighteen members of 1102 Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rover Scout Crew recently took part in a ‘Sekapur Sireh’ course at Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam (OBBD), Batang Duri Camp, Temburong District.
The aims of the course were to produce rover scouts that possess strong mental and physical health to face challenges and guide them during charity and community work.
Among the activities lined up for the scouts were: discussion and debate sessions to build self-confidence, first aid talk, flying fox, group exercises, basic course on compass and map reading, three-kilometre jungle trekking from Batang Duri Camp to Kudan and kayaking along Temburong River to the camp.
The rover scouts also participated in community works such as making name tags in Jawi and a cleaning campaign of the premises to mark the Day of Action.
Throughout the event, the rover scouts were accompanied by UNISSA’s rover scout leader and trainer Zainudin bin Haji Ishak and Commissioner of Nationhood Division at the Scouts Headquarter Haji Junaidi bin Haji Hussin. – James Kon
