Eighteen individuals from the government and the private sector, led by senior designer Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ Art and Cultural Division Mohd Ridzuan bin Haji Bakar, left the Sultanate to participate in the fourth cultural festival in Makassar, Indonesia.
The festival, organised by the Director-General of Culture of Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture and Technology, is held until September 5.
It is themed ‘Cultural Diversity for Sustainable Living’ and focuses on the potential of cultural heritage, especially in cultural diversity towards contributing to a sustainable life.
The festival aims to strengthen relations in the BIMP-EAGA to promote diversification of its traditional and contemporary as well as cultural heritage. Culinary workshops, scarf exhibitions, music and dance performances, workshops and demonstrations on natural dyes in traditional fabric are among the activities lined up at the festival.
Guests will also join a seminar on ‘The History of the Spice and Maritime Route in the Context of Cultural Connectivity in the Southeast Asian Region and the World in the Past, Present and Future’. – James Kon
