18 offences, 214 fines during KB roadblock

Eighteen traffic offences and 214 compound fines were recorded during two separate joint roadblock operations led by the Belait Police District headquarters on Saturday simultaneously at the Seria Bypass Highway heading to Kuala Belait and Lorong 3 Barat road near Simpang 198, from the highway towards Pekan Seria.

Among the offences were vehicles using plastic film stickers or window curtains, driving with expired driving licences, worn out tyres, expired insurances and using blue light headlamps.

Offenders were issued with compound fines under Section 8 (1) Road Traffic Act (RTA), Chapter 68 and Section 18 (4) RTA, Chapter 68.

Meanwhile, the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) discovered a driver in possession of two units of vape pod which is an offence under Section 146 (1) (d) of Excise Order 2006.

The operation from 8pm to 10.30pm involved police personnel from the Seria Police Station, Panaga Police Station, Traffic Control and Investigation Department Batu 3 with enforcement personnel from Land Transport Department, RCED, Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), Religious Enforcement Division and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The operation’s objective was to educate and enforce road safety regulations among road users and the community.

The INRD issued a special pass to a Bangladesh national for verification of his original document. The Land Transport Department issued three compounds on the offences of U/REG 31, and U/REG 104 (1) as well as three offences under U/Sec 76(1) Chapter 68, Regulation 26 Chapter 68 and Regulation 28 Chapter 68.

NCB detained two individuals for the offence under Section 6(1) Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27 for in possession of controlled drugs and Section 6 (b) which is consumption of controlled drugs as well as Section 7 which is in possession of drug paraphernalia for the consumption of controlled drugs. The public is urged to cooperate with the Royal Brunei Police Force and enforcement agencies by sharing information of any suspicious activities. – James Kon
