18 new COVID-19 cases reported

The country recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, raising the number of confirmed cases to 16,084, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar in a press conference yesterday.

Sixteen were local cases, while two were imported cases, said the minister. The cases were found after 1,469 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours, making the rate of positive cases 1.2 per cent.

Meanwhile 32 cases have recovered bringing the total number of active cases to 350. The bed occupancy rate in isolation centres nationwide is 9.3 per cent.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham said as of January 21, the rate of the population who have received at least one dose of the vaccine is 94.7 per cent while the rate of those who have received two doses of the vaccine is 93.9 per cent. The rate of those who have received three doses of the vaccine is 36.1 per cent.

Also in attendance was Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin
Haji Mohsin.
