Eighteen police personnel from Pulau Muara Besar gained a better footing in fire prevention after they completed a Fire Marshal course from May 16-18.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), the course was conducted by the Public Relations Division of Operation ‘A’ Branch.

Participants were briefed on the importance of fire safety in theory and practice, including the common causes of fire, understanding the actions that need to be taken when facing fire incidents at work, how to systematically evacuate a building on fire, proper use of a fire extinguisher and fire blanket, and saving oneself from being trapped in a burning building. The police personnel also visited Muara Fire Station to take a closer look at an array of firefighting equipment.

The course was conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) outlined by the Ministry of Health. Participants were required to conduct antigen rapid test (ART) prior to the course, wear face masks at all time and maintain a social distance.
