Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital’s Otorhinolaryngology Department organised an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Update Symposium 2024 at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre recently.
Themed ‘Strengthening Core Towards Sustainable Health Services’, it included a wide range of ENT topics for general practitioners, medical specialists and emergency physicians to keep themselves up-to-date with current advances and management plans.
According to a statement, the recent COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need to incorporate telemedicine, and the symposium intended to expose health professionals to the current technology available on the market that can be incorporated, particularly in an office-based environment.
The event began with a speech by head of department Pengiran Dr Hajah Siti Rafidah binti Pengiran Haji Idris, followed by a keynote lecture on ‘The Role of Biologics ini Recalcitrant Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyposis’ by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Head of Otorhinolaryngology Professor Salina Husain.
The symposium also saw presentations by local ENT consultants, specialists and allied healthcare professionals as well as workshops on practical skills relevant to the ENT practice.
Some 150 health professionals attended the symposium.
