140 new COVID cases in Brunei

Some 139 local and one imported cases were recorded in the Sultanate yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 17,031.

The new cases were detected through 4,723 laboratory tests carried out in the last 24 hours, a Ministry of Health statement said.

The number of recoveries totals 16,078 after 49 cases recovered. The country currently has 851 active cases.

The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide has increased to 16.3 per cent.
As of February 3, 94.8 per cent of the population received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 94.0 per cent with two doses, and 41.5 per cent have received the booster shots.

Meanwhile, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel detected one violation during the movement restriction order from midnight to 4am yesterday.

The offender, local Md Shahrill Izam bin Haji Abdul Salim was fined for breaching the directive in the Brunei-Muara District.
