A ceremony was held at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday to celebrate 14 scholars under His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme and Skim Bantuan Pinjaman Pendidikan (SBPP), who completed their undergraduate studies with first class honours.
Organised by the Ministry of Education through its Department of Scholarship Management, Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh presented the Outstanding Graduate Award to the scholars.
Acting Director of Scholarship Management Rosimah Sumaimah binti Haji Matassim in her remarks said, “The achievements of the graduates are proof of their determination, commitment and perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge, as well as persistence and dedication to achieve excellence. Their success not only makes their families and institutions proud, it also strengthens our country’s ability to produce quality and capable human resources in dealing with global challenges as well as robust human resource ecosystem.”
The award recipients were: Nur Shahirah binti Haji Bakar, Khairunniza binti Sunny, Marfarahaini binti Haji Omar, Azlan bin Basar, Koh Xin Ying, Nurul Amal Haziqah binti Haji Masir, Muezzah Hakemah binti Misli, Muhammad Izzan bin Ahmad Faisal, Nureen Syahirah binti Salminan, Mohammad Azizan bin Haji Mohammad Anas, Awangku Muhamad Hariz Yusof bin Pengiran Sarabuddin, Dayangku Aniisah Khoirunnisaa’ binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin, Jewel Shim Huei Zi and Ashley Ha I-Jia.
The event aimed to serve as an inspiration for other students to achieve a similar level of success in their studies. – James Kon
