    121 retirees honoured for dedication, service

    Retirees’ sacrifice of time and effort, along with their kindness and contributions has been an inspiration to all and will be remembered, said Permanent Secretary (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Ajman bin Haji Meludin.

    He said this as the chairperson of the ceremony presenting retirement certificates to 121 retirees – 71 male and 50 female – under the PMO, at the Banquet Hall, PMO Building yesterday.

    Representing the PMO, the permanent secretary expressed deepest appreciation and gratitude to the retirees for their service and contributions during their service to the government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, especially to the PMO and its departments.

    “I believe that your commitment, hard work and enthusiasm in carrying out the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to you have had a positive impact on the organisation, your colleagues, and more importantly, on the public,” he added.

    He also noted that retirement is not the end or means their contribution to the country and the nation has ended, the country hopes and believes that they will continue to actively provide valuable contributions directly or indirectly to society through various platforms.

    As a citizen, retirees still have the role and responsibility to work together towards the development and progress of the country to maintain well-being, peace and prosperity to realise Brunei Vision 2035, he added.

    Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, the guests of honour, presented certificates and souvenirs to the recipients.

    The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Mosque Affairs Officer at Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Haji Md Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran, followed by the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah and concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.

    The ceremony served as a sign of respect and appreciation to officers and staff who have contributed their time, energy and services, particularly at the PMO. – Lyna Mohamad
