Some 12 eateries in Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts were found without halal certificates and were issued notices to submit their applications within six months during several operations by enforcement officers of the Halal Food Control Division at the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs last month.
The operation aimed to enforce the provision under Section 4(1) and Section 10(1)(a) of the Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order 2005 on the need to apply for a halal certificate or halal permit of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) to food retailers.
