115 anglers compete in surf casting event

A total of 115 surf casters from across the nation and beyond raced to secure their ideal spots along the picturesque coastline at Lumut Recreation Park as the Surf Casting Competition kicked off last Sunday morning.

Organised by the Village Consultative Council of RPN Kampong Lumut 1 in collaboration with Topbitez Enterprise, the competition sought to gather the top surf casters and challenge them to reel in the largest catch of the day.

In the end, Noor Azlan bin Haji Senin emerged as the winner, landing an impressive 9.730kg fish. His achievement earned him the top prize of BND800, which was presented by the guest of honour, Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, during the award ceremony.

The competition was held in conjunction with the 78th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. – DANIEL LIM
