Eleven teams will be vying for top honours in the VFA 9-a-side Veteran Football Championship which will be held at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex Football Field on December 15.
The participating teams have been divided into two groups with Group ‘A’ comprising Gyeomsonhan V.C; PSJD ‘A’; Mix FT; KPPKSK; V Legend FT and Azam FT while Group ‘B’ feature VML FT; Mumtaz; Kasat Vet; Ar-Rayyan FT and PSJD ‘B’.
Present during the team manager’s meeting and draw ceremony was VFA President Matusin bin Sumpong.
The event commenced with opening remarks from the competition chairman followed by a briefing about the competition by the competition secretary.
The top two from the group will qualify for the semi-finals and subsequently the final to determine the winners of the title. Certain eligibility conditions apply to participate in the tournament in accordance to their age group category.
Each team must field three players who are under category ‘A’ (55 years and above or born from 1969 and below); four players under category ‘B’ (between 50 to 54 years) and two players under category ‘C’ aged between 45 to 49.
Mumtaz ‘A’ are the defending champions after winning the title last year. – Fadhil Yunus
