1,018 food packages distributed in charity drive

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC) and its student society, the Halalan Thayyiban Student Society (HTSS) and in collaboration with Ibnu Sina Scientific Laboratory Centre organised the ‘Jalinan Kasih Semanis Ukhuwah’ programme in collaboration with the Senior Citizens Acitvity Centre (PKWE) in the Tutong District.

The programme served as a platform for UNISSA members to engage in charitable giving where 1,018 food packages were prepared and distributed free among residents of Tutong District through a drive-through system at the PKWE compound.

Director of the HTRC Pengiran Dr Hajah Norkhairiah binti Pengiran Haji Hashim, Director of the Ibnu Sina Scientific Laboratory Centre Dr Cristalina binti Jalil Marsal and UNISSA lecturers and students participated. UNISSA members donated for this worthy cause. The programme also received support from PKWE members led by PKWE Manager Haji Hammafi bin Mohd Yassin.

Their involvement facilitated the food preparation process.

Meanwhile, UNISSA students and PKWE members exchanged experiences and values while working together on this charitable effort. A total of 40 volunteers, comprising UNISSA students and PKWE members worked together to prepare and distribute the food packages.

The programme’s primary objective was to encourage charitable giving as an act of jariyah (continuous charity), especially during Ramadhan.

It aimed to cultivate empathy for those in need, strengthen bonds between people for the sake of Allah the Almighty, and reinforce noble values through volunteerism.
