100 students join circuit, code-making workshop

Some 100 students nationwide attended the CircuiTech Wizard workshop at Awang Semaun Secondary School in the Brunei-Muara District, Tutong Sixth Form Centre in the Tutong District and Belait Sixth Form Centre in the Belait District yesterday.

The workshop, as part of the NXplorers Young Innovators programme, aims to equip students with basic circuit and code-making knowledge.

The workshop includes theories and definitions surrounding circuit-making, to practical and hands-on challenges that task the students to make use of the knowledge gained to wire together various electronic circuits using the provided components during the first day of the workshop.

The students will continue to participate in the workshop until June 6, during which they will delve into learning how to code-making using Arduino Microcontroller.

The workshop is held as a continuation of a previous workshop, with the CircuiTech Wizard workshop serving as preparations for upcoming workshops – the i-Maker at the Seria Energy Lab (SEL) with MegaTrex and Sumo Robotics workshop to be held at the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB).

The NXplorers Young Innovators was introduced as a pilot programme by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) through SEL in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Department of Schools, the Science Technology Environment Partnership Centre, UTB, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Innovation Lab to prepare students for the international FIRST Global Challenge in Athens, Greece and the Petrosains RBTX Challenge in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. – Daniel Lim
